DOFBOT-SE is a 6DOF robotic arm developed by Yahboom based on a virtual machine system. It does not require a embedded development board (Jetson NANO/Raspberry Pi), generates control decisions through a PC-side virtual machine, and is driven by an STM32 controller to implement various functions. We use the ROS robot control system to simplify the complex motion control of the 6DOF serial bus servo, enabling the forward and reverse solutions, motion planning, MoveIt simulation, collision detection and other functions to be realized. It comes with a 0.3MP camera, combined with machine vision algorithms, which not only enables color recognition tracking and grabbing, but also has many functions such as model training, garbage sorting, and gesture recognition. Virtual machine system development

Okay, full disclosure: I'm ZERO robotics experience. When this 6DOF robotic arm arrived pre-assembled (huge plus!), I thought it would be a piece of cake for me. Plugged in the Raspberry Pi, attached the camera, and... bam. Hit a wall with calibration. The AI vision setup had me lost – felt like wrestling with error codes 😅.
Enter Yahboom's support heroes. Over email, they guided me step-by-step soon and helped me fix the OpenCV initialization and other issues. Perhaps my thoughts and personal experiences on it are worthy of reference by other buyers:
1️⃣ Virtual machine system control does not require expensive development boards, and is very cost-effective
2️⃣ Excellent after-sales support and guidance are better than anything else!

Low price and rich functions, worth recommending
The robot arm controlled by a virtual machine, not only cheap but also easy to realize model training, garbage classification. combining with HD camera and inverse kinematics algorithm it can also do color recognition, tracking and grabbing, gestures and faces. The arm was already assembled when I opened the box, so all I had to do was to install the rest of the development board and the camera, etc. However, I did download and install the virtual machine, it took me so many time, but it was well worth the effort to get it and drill for it. Also, human technical service always makes more sense than cold manuals, and the quick response after-sales service saved me a lot of unnecessary detours.

THINK TWICE (AT LEAST)!
Supplied with both extra parts and missing parts, it's a joke!
When after endless waiting the missing parts get supplied what you've got seems to be reasonably well engineered, BUT following the build instructions (and failing) then complaining to Yahboom gets you slightly different instructions - repeatedly.
My kit is now built, but still not programmable (on a Windows 11 PC).
If I'd known it was going to be this bad, I'd have looked elsewhere.
Only proceed if your dedicated, desperate or daft!
Otherwise, it's an expensive mistake!

Precision needs to be improved
Its hardware configuration is rich, and the assembly is not complicated, so you can get started quickly. Moreover, it can be programmed and controlled through a PC virtual machine to achieve some interesting functions, which allows me to find a balance between learning and entertainment. However, the precision of the robotic arm needs to be improved. When performing some delicate operations, there will be some deviations. I hope Yahboom can improve in this regard, but it is still worth giving four stars.

The hardware workmanship is very exquisite, the material is sturdy, and the installation process is smooth.
The driver program is also easy to install, and there are even detailed tutorial guides. The movement of the robotic arm is very smooth, and I have made some improvements on it to make it more functional.
What version of ROS is used in the project, 1 or 2?

Is it possible to attach voice recoguniyion Module ? if it possible How to install this Module ?
Hello friend, Currently we do not offer such a solution. But our Voice interaction module support 4PIN Serial communication. You can connect it on DOFBOT SE expansion board.
