Been loving it for a few years

I bought this HAT a few years ago on Amazon.com and love it. I enjoy the multiple functions and the python code has been a lot of fun to experiment with!
In addition to the Pi 4 and 3 advertised, it also works on the older 2 and 1. I use mine on a Pi 1B+ web server and over time have modified the code to set the RGB lighting to a single color, changed the text displayed on the LED, and added an input monitors to handle a piezo buzzer and GPIO matrix keypad.
Last year the LED was showing bad burn-in making the text unreadable and I replaced it with a larger 64x128 that uses the same SSD1306 chipset and, therefore, no code modifications had to be made. Although I did make one small modification to blank the display once in a while to hopefully reduce the risk of future burn-in.
The fan has also been noisy and stuttery for a while and I am looking into the possibility of replacing it...

Good service, product not perfect

I am satisfied with this cooling fan as a whole, but I encountered some problems when setting the RGB lighting. The technical customer service communicated with me in real time on WhatsApp. Although his English is very bad, he finally helped us solve the problem.
If you're using the latest Raspberry Pi 8G board, it sometimes doesn't work.

Hello firend, Thanks for your review.
I have reported the problem you encountered to our colleagues in R&D, they are working on it, any new news I will let you know.

Raspberry Pi RGB Cooling HAT with adjustable fan and OLED display for 4B/3B+/3B

Best pi accessory

Excellent... thinking about getting another one.

Some modding required

Fan is kinda garbage but is easily swapped out with a noctua 5v 40mm fan. Silent and cool. The programming provided, both c and python are kinda sloppy and dont really run well. A user by the name of dogweather updated them to python3 and they work great. Not being able to use custom rgb settings is kind of a pain but there are enough pre defined effects to keep things spicy. I have this integrated with my retropie set up to dynamically change colors and effect depending on what system is being played at the time. I hope they are working on a new version, hopefully with full custom rgb control and 3 more leds. Will be releasing my retropie scripts soon!

  • I recently bought your Pi cooling had and it seems that the code that is on github uses deprecated libraries that are making it hard for the hat to work. Is there ever going to be updated code?
