RDK X3/X5 development board is equipped with the ROS2 operating system, which endows this AI vision car with excellent functions and mobility. RDK robot car is designed with Mecanum wheels, so it can move flexibly and freely in various environments. Its combination of depth camera and lidar enables it to accurately identify and track targets, and realize intelligent navigation and obstacle avoidance functions. Through Jupyter Lab Python programming and deep learning algorithms, the car can identify, classify and analyze the surrounding scenery in real time, so as to achieve a higher level of intelligent decision-making and interaction.

Aluminum alloy structure, stacked structure
RDK robot car is made of white sandblasted aluminum alloy as a whole, and the interior adopts a stacked structure. All the connecting wires are cleverly stored, making the car look beautiful and tidy as a whole.

As an robotics engineering student, I've been looking for an affordable yet capable platform to learn ROS2 and computer vision. The RDK X3 Robot Car hits the sweet spot between price and performance.The RDK X3-4GB mainboard handles ROS2-Foxy and TogetherROS smoothly—no lag during mapping or object detection.
Setting it up took me an afternoon. The manual is decent, though beginners might struggle with some steps (thankfully, technical support is responsive). Once assembled, the depth camera + LiDAR combo worked straight away. I tested SLAM mapping using the dedicated navigation APP, and the car built accurate room maps in minutes.
The Jupyter Lab Python interface is fantastic for learning. I quickly modified the visual line-following demo and experimented with gesture control. At $359, you get an aluminum chassis, stacked clean design, and all essential sensors—much better value!
Perfect for students wanting hands-on experience with real robots before graduation.
The parts are of good quality and the functions are well designed, but it is still a bit complicated for beginners. The manual is helpful, but some key steps lack specific diagrams, which can easily get you stuck.
It runs normally after assembly, but there are some problems when running radar-related functions. With the help of technical support, most of the problems were solved.
For inexperienced users, it takes extra time to explore.

Yes, it use ROS2-Foxy and TogetherROS/ROS2.

Under both kits it says that the RDK X3 4GB is optional, Does either kit come with RDK X3 4GB?
